For the Coll family, stepping away from the daily routine for a family getaway was exactly what they needed. With muddy wellie walks, trips to the swimming pool, and even a little dip in a hot tub, four-year-old Ellis and his family recently enjoyed a brilliant holiday filled with fun and precious memories.
Life in the Coll household is certainly busy. The family of five includes two adults, a teenager, a fifteen-month-old and little Ellis. Like many families navigating additional support needs, Isabella and her husband have adapted their lifestyle to ensure Ellis is fully supported.
Hoping for a small contribution towards a family getaway, they applied for a Trefoil Holiday Grant. Isabella says they were "blown away" and incredibly grateful to receive a grant of £650, which allowed them to make the holiday a reality.
The break provided a wonderful escape from everyday stresses and a chance to simply relax. Their days were spent splashing in the pool, exploring a local park, and visiting a play barn that hosted a dedicated session for children with additional needs.
Reflecting on the experience, Isabella shared just how much the getaway meant to them all.
"This break gave us time to reconnect, gave us meaningful time with Ellis and each other," she said, adding that the support has made a huge difference to their lives.
