On Call Africa - One Year On

In June 2016 Trefoil awarded On Call Africa £5,000 to support the work of young volunteer doctors in rural Zambia.

In the year that has followed they have prescribed treatment to 6,302 patients, 52% of whom were 24 or under. Their volunteers use their skills to treat people who would have no other way of accessing health care. One of their mobile clinics was delivered monthly in Pukuma Village, which is approximately 100km from the nearest metaled road and the headman of Pukuma commented that, "the distance from the village to the Rural Health Centre is great and it's too far for sick people, but On Call Africa is on our doorstep. On Call Africa supports patients very well because of the interaction and the time spent with each".
