GOLF FOR GRANTS 2009
Despite the recession, flu pandemics and any other maladies the Treoil Golf Tournament went ahead this year. It was felt earlier in the year that there was a risk in running the event due to the economic situation and the potential lack of teams. A decision was made however to proceed based upon the need to keep the Tournament going and to maintain the Trefoil profile. Following a great deal of hard work, persuasion and not a little coercion we were able to field 13 teams for the event which was held on 9 June 2009. This was around half of our usual attendance however it did take us beyond the break even point.
A number of our regular attenders were unable to field a team this year due to the economic downturn which is entirely understandable however we will still be looking for you next year!
The day started off cool and breezy however it soon brightened up into a glorious day with some superb Golf being played on a well prepared course. The scores indicated that the play was of a high standard with the Winning score being an impressive 118.
Scores were as follows:
The event raised nearly £4000.00 on the day including the Raffle and the Silent Auction which on its own raised a generous £500.00. Thank you for your kind comments on the day and well done to all concerned including both support staff and players. The funds raised will be of immense value to a huge number of Children and Young People at home here in Scotland and across the globe.
